Welcome to the School of General Studies. These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of our websites (schoolofgeneralstudies.com and portal.schoolofgeneralstudies.com), our official communication channels (including WhatsApp and Telegram), and all associated courses, mentorship programs, and services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using our Platform, you agree to be bound by these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund and Cancellation Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use our services.
These terms are governed by and comply with applicable Indian laws, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Definitions
- "Platform": Refers to the websites schoolofgeneralstudies.com and portal.schoolofgeneralstudies.com, our official WhatsApp and Telegram communication channels, and any associated applications or digital properties operated by School of General Studies.
- "Services": Includes all online courses, mentorship programs, study materials, mock tests, MCQ test series, articles, and other educational resources provided by School of General Studies through the Platform.
- "User", "You", "Buyer": Refers to any individual accessing or using the Platform.
- "We", "Us", "Our": Refers to the School of General Studies, its founder, and any authorized representatives.
- "Content": Includes all text, images, videos, audio, documents, MCQs, study notes, and other materials available on the Platform.
Acceptance of Terms
Your use of the Platform and Services constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund and Cancellation Policy. This agreement is effective from the moment you access the Platform. Your personal data is processed in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 as described in our Privacy Policy.
User Accounts and Registration
- Eligibility: You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and purchase services on our Platform.
- Account Information: You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information during the registration process and to keep this information updated.
- Account Security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
- Prohibition of Account Sharing: Your account is for your personal use only. Sharing your login credentials, accessing the platform from multiple devices or IP addresses simultaneously, or allowing others to use your account is strictly prohibited. Any violation will result in the immediate termination of your account without a refund, and we reserve the right to ban future registrations.
Use of the Platform and Content
- Permitted Use: You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Content and Services for your personal, non-commercial educational purposes related to UPSC preparation.
- Prohibited Use: You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or otherwise exploit any part of the Content without our prior written consent.
- Use the Platform for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- Engage in any form of harassment, hate speech, or abuse towards our mentors, staff, or other users.
- Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code to the Platform.
- Interfere with the security or functionality of the Platform.
Intellectual Property Rights
All Content, including courses, study materials, MCQs, videos, logos, trademarks, and website design, is the exclusive property of the School of General Studies and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
- Strict Prohibition of Reproduction: Unauthorized reproduction, sharing, or distribution of our copyrighted materials, including but not limited to PDFs, video lectures, MCQ sets, and notes, is a violation of these terms.
- Consequences: If a user is found to be sharing or selling our purchased Content with others, their account will be terminated immediately, and we reserve the right to pursue necessary legal action.
Course and Service Disclaimers
- No Guarantee of Success: The purpose of our Services is to provide guidance and resources for your UPSC preparation. We do not guarantee success or a specific rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Your final result depends on your hard work, dedication, and individual performance.
- Content Updates: We reserve the right to update, modify, or change the curriculum and content of any course at our discretion to align with changes in the UPSC syllabus or exam patterns. We will notify enrolled students of material changes to course content through email or WhatsApp.
Payments
All payments are processed securely through our trusted third-party payment gateway partners, currently PhonePe and Razorpay. We do not store your card details or sensitive financial information on our servers.
Our detailed Refund and Cancellation Policy governs all refunds and cancellations. By making a purchase, you agree to the terms outlined in that policy.
We reserve the right to change the pricing of our Services at any time. Price changes will not affect purchases already completed.
Cancellation of Account and Termination of Services
To protect the integrity of our educational platform and the value of our content, we reserve the right to cancel a user’s account and terminate services without a refund under the following circumstances:
- Credential Sharing: If a user is found to have shared their login credentials or is accessing their account from multiple devices or IP addresses in a manner that indicates unauthorized usage.
- Unauthorized Distribution: If a user attempts to sell, share, or distribute purchased courses, study materials, or PDFs with others without our express written permission. Such actions constitute a violation of our intellectual property rights, and legal action may be pursued.
- Violation of Terms: Any other behavior that violates these Terms and Conditions or our community guidelines.
In all cases of account cancellation due to policy violation, all fees paid will be forfeited and no refund will be provided.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Services and Content on the Platform are provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the School of General Studies, its founder, or authorized representatives be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, goodwill, or data, arising from your use of the Platform or Services. This limitation applies to the maximum extent permitted by applicable Indian law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the School of General Studies, its founder, and authorized representatives from any claims, liabilities, damages, and losses arising out of:
- Your violation of these Terms and Conditions.
- Your infringement of any intellectual property rights, including unauthorized reproduction or distribution of our Content.
- Any unauthorized use of your account resulting from your failure to maintain account security.
This indemnification does not apply to disputes arising from standard service usage, payment disputes, or refund requests, which are governed by our Refund and Cancellation Policy and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Delhi, India for the resolution of any disputes.
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. You retain the right to approach the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum (District, State, or National level) for resolution of consumer grievances.
Changes to the Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. It is your responsibility to review these terms periodically. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated terms.
Entire Agreement, Severability, and No Waiver
These Terms and Conditions, along with our Refund and Cancellation Policy and Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the School of General Studies regarding your use of the Platform and Services. If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
